House members gave final approval 70-0 Wednesday to legislation, SB227, that would allow snowmobilers with permits to carry concealed weapons.

The bill passed the Senate 35-0. Rep. Brock Greenfield, R-Clark, said a constituent from his district contacted Sen. Chuck Welke, D-Warner, to call attention to an inconsistency in South Dakota concealed-weapon laws. People are prohibited from carrying a concealed weapon in a courthouse, school, bar or on a snowmobile. “There seems to be no connection between the first three and the last one,” Greenfield said. The Welke legislation now goes to the governor.
