Gun control advocates are spending the day at the Thompson Center, speaking out against changing state law to allow people to carry concealed weapons, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.

“As far as we know, this is the first-ever people’s filibuster for safe streets,” said Lee Goodman, organizer of the Stop Concealed Carry Coalition.

Goodman is calling on Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to appeal the federal court order saying Illinois must draft a concealed-carry law.

He led off a procession of speakers including Joy Ehlenfeldt, whose parents and five of their employees were killed in the 1993 Browns Chicken Massacre in Palatine.
