Wednesday the Ohio Attorney General released information showing a significant increase in the number of concealed carry licenses issued in the state of Ohio, non-coincidentally, after the Newtown, CT tragedy.

“It’s not surprising. You have people out there afraid the government’s going to take their guns away. They’re getting more worried for their individual safety when they’re out in the public, because the things that are happening,” said Diane Donnett, owner of Stonewall Range and Uniforms in Broadview Heights.

According to the AG’s office, in the first quarter of 2013 — January 1 st to March 31 st, more than 37,000 concealed carry licenses were issued in the state of Ohio. This number includes both “new” and “renewal” licenses. The AG’s office described the number of just “new” licenses reported alone as more than half of what was reported in the same quarter last year.
