Massad Ayoob’s Off-Body Concealed Carry Tips

Massad Ayoob explores the methods, positives and negatives of carrying a weapon concealed in a bag or carry-all.

In the above video, self-defense expert and Combat Handguns contributor Massad Ayoob explores the methods, positives and negatives of carrying a weapon concealed in a bag or carry-all.

In terms of the available methods for off-body carry, Ayoob recommends attaché case or a gun purse such as the one from Galco Gunleather featured in the video. The advantage is purely down to a matter of convenience. Carrying a gun in a purse or an attaché case in public ensures the end user is ready to quickly spring into action should the need arise. In addition, if you find yourself frequenting gun-free zones and federal buildings such as the post office, placing your gun in something like an attaché case and leaving it in the car is vital.

The disadvantages of off-body concealed carry are also discussed. While the Galco purse helps you be ready, it is “generally slow to get to in a reactive situation,” Ayoob says in the video. Furthermore, it’s easy — and extremely dangerous — to accidentally leave your concealed carry case or purse behind in public places.
