Last week, a brave Clifton High School student’s actions foiled a daytime burglary attempt and allowed law enforcement officers to apprehend the suspect before he could escape the Delawanna neighborhood.

The home invasion occurred around 4 p.m. on Dec. 4 at a home on Cherry Street, according to police reports.

The 16-year-old teen was alone in his home when he heard a knock on the door, said Clifton Police Department spokesman detective Sgt. Robert Bracken.

The teen looked out and did not recognize the man at the door, Bracken said. Soon after the teen realized the suspect was attempting to pry open the rear door, so he ran upstairs, grabbed a phone and hid in the closet and dialed the police.
