On Wednesday morning at 3:50, Tyler police responded to a residential burglary call on Barbara Street.
The homeowner told police that she and her family were asleep when they heard a loud crashing noise in the home’s front room.
She got up to investigate, and saw that the window was shattered. The suspect had thrown a bicycle through the window to gain entry into the house.
The homeowner’s 18-year-old son grabbed a firearm and went to the window, looking outside. Police say he observed a black male suspect wearing all black and carrying a duffel bag standing in the front yard near the window. The son fired three rounds into the front yard, causing the suspect to flee from the area.
