A University of Georgia student used a golf club to drive a burglar from his home Sunday morning.
Well, it wasn’t actually a driver. It was a 7 wood, according to the student.
Thomas Hiles, 22, said he was asleep in his home on North Harris Street about 7 a.m. when he was wakened by a noise in the living room.
Hiles told Athens-Clarke police that when he looked out of his room and didn’t see anything, he went back to bed, but heard another noise a short time later.
“Basically, I looked out and saw someone in the living room, and the TV that was hanging on the wall was on the floor,” Hiles said in an interview Monday. “I keep my golf clubs in a closet in my room, so I reached in and grabbed the first club I could get and basically went after the guy with it, yelling at him to get out.”
