A grand jury in Orange County has found that a Newburgh man acted in self defense when he shot and killed Justin Doctor, 23, last fall.
Charles Alexander, 21, was facing charges of second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. It stems from an incident that took place at a sports bar on Liberty Street in Newburgh back in October.
Orange County District Attorney Frank Phillips says surveillance video shows Doctor attempting to shoot Alexander’s brother, Scottie, in the head. Phillips says Doctor’s gun jammed and Charles Alexander then shot at him three times and fled the scene.
