An intruder was shot and killed during a burglary in Marshville, just southeast of Monroe, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
The homeowners told the 911 dispatcher that someone had forced their way into the home wearing a mask and using a handgun.
The mother and son inside the home were able to get a loaded weapon and shoot the intruder.
Robby Charles Blount, 25, of Monroe, died from his wounds in the front yard of the home, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
