Texas Governor Rick Perry signed HB1862 into law, thereby removing “switchblade knife” from the “banned weapons” list.
The the House of Representatives passed the legislation near-unanimously by a 141-1 vote, and the Senate by 31-0 last month.
The law takes effect on September. 1.
Knife Rights, a 2nd Amendment support organization dedicated to knife rights, indicated that it will be back in two years for the next Texas legislative session to pass knife law preemption, which prevents cities from enacting ordinances that are more restrictive than state law.
