Common sense dictates that if you carry a firearm for per-sonal defense, you need to carry a reasonable amount of spare ammunition too—at least one spare magazine and enough to execute one combat reload. Having a spare magazine also ensures that you’ll be able to quickly execute a combat reload when your pistol malfunctions either due to the magazine or ammunition. For revolvers, you can carry spare ammunition in a dump pouch on your belt, in speed-loaders or in six-round speed strips. Note that it is possible to encounter a defective round of revolver ammunition, too.
