The Nax by Gear Up is part knife, part axe and all tough. Designed with input from soldiers, preppers and survival experts, the forged 4140 chrome-moly Nax is designed to be a seriously versatile survival tool that can stand up to the harshest conditions thanks to its double heat-treatment and induction hardening. The blade is 5.5 inches long with an extremely sharp zero-ground edge and an additional 1.5 inches of tanto point at the tip. The overall length is 21.5 inches of one-piece, quarter-inch-thick steel. Author Tim Stetzer writes, “The Nax is an unusual creature…at its core, the Nax is an extremely sturdy, one-piece axe that is probably about as close to unbreakable as you can reasonably make it.” When taken to task, the Nax didn’t fail to perform. Find out how it dominated backcountry chores in the November 2013 issue of Tactical Knives, available on newsstands and digitally on July 23, 2013.
