The Harrisburg School District is creating a school security task force to improve safety. Last month the school board discussed the idea of selecting some staff members — not teachers — to carry a gun as a way to boost school security. The five-member board didn’t indicate whether the district would pursue the option.
Board members didn’t clearly state during that meeting how the district would train staff members with guns, and whether the district would buy the guns or simply allow staff members who have a concealed handgun license to bring their own weapons to school.
