Family, friends and strangers attended the self-defense benefit class held to honor an Omaha woman who was shot to death. The two-hour class was held as a fundraiser for the family of Andrea Kruger, who was killed on her way home from work.
Organizers from Life Time Fitness say demand was so great that they plan to start a weekly adult self-defense class.
Authorities have charged 26-year-old Nikko Jenkins with Kruger’s murder and his uncle, 51-year-old Warren Levering, as an accessory in her death.
Kruger’s sister-in-law, Lori Roberts, says the benefit was designed to empower women.
