The 200,000th concealed carry license was recently issued by the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
The licenses, printed by DOJ employees in a secure area of the Risser Justice Center in downtown Madison, started being issued in November 2011.
DOJ gets between 500 and 1,000 concealed carry license applications every week. The majority of the applications are processed in less than a week.
“As attorney general, I am pleased we are able to offer this public service to Wisconsin’s law-abiding citizens,” said Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen in a news release.
