$33 million was approved by The Public Safety Appropriations panel to set up a system, to regulate concealed carry. The measure was part of a $46.6 million supplemental appropriation. However, Rep. Luis Arroyo (D-Chicago) said only around $500,000 of that money was new general-revenue spending.
Under the measure, the Illinois State Police would have the authority to pay for additional staff and equipment to set up concealed carry with money from $150 permit fees.
