Applicants who were issued a concealed carry weapons permit by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office will soon be receiving a new permit in the mail.

A recent Ohio Supreme Court ruling that removed former Sheriff George Maier from office resulted in Acting Sheriff Timothy Swanson deciding to issue new permits to replace those signed by Maier during his tenure in office, according to the Canton Repository.

New permits will be mailed to permit holders at no additional cost, the sheriff’s office announced on its Facebook page.
