A new concept for 2014 comes from Advanced Ballistics Concepts with their multi-segmented bullet. The Multiple Impact Mi3 bullet was designed to segment into three equally dispersed bullet fragments that are tethered to one another by ballistic-grade tethers. Each of the three fragments, while attached by the tether, expand to a diameter of 14 inches for handgun rounds or 24 inches for shotgun rounds. The tethered segments of the round also incorporate Smart-Stop technology and a tether braking system to reduce over-penetration. Now available in 12 gauge and .45 ACP, a 9mm version will be coming soon.
