The spent casing from her last shot is in the air, but petite Lori is already back on target with her GLOCK 19, shooting weak-hand only in one of the author’s classes.
Gen4 GLOCKs include interchangeable backstraps, allowing users to customize the pistol grip to accommodate their particular hand sizes, whether large, medium or small.
It’s no secret that women are joining the ranks of new shooters in large numbers. In fact, women are the fastest-growing demographic within the shooting community. In the upcoming 2014 edition of GLOCK AUTOPISTOLS, author Massad Ayoob digs into this phenomenon and why female shooters are overwhelming turning to Glocks.
Ayoob writes, “As a law enforcement firearms instructor since 1972 and as a trainer of armed private citizens since 1981, I’ve had the time to observe shooters of both genders operate every common defensive firearm now in use, including the Glock. One thing I’ve noted—and it should be obvious to even the most inattentive observer—is the huge popularity of Glock autopistols. Another is that the Glock seems to be particularly popular with female shooters.”
He continues, “Soft recoil for the given caliber, fast recovery from muzzle flip, a ‘reachable’ trigger and an easily manipulated slide mechanism all play into the GLOCK’s “female-friendly” profile. So do other factors.”
