By 1991, Glock had made itself a serious force in both the law enforcement and the civilian firearms market. However, Mr. Glock’s pistols were at that point still rarely seen at shooting competitions. So, typical of his revolutionary thinking and action, Gaston Glock decided he would sponsor and solely fund a competition program oriented exclusively to Glock pistols. Thus the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) was born! In the upcoming 2014 edition of GLOCK AUTOPISTOLS, author Chris Edwards examines what has made the GSSF so popular.

He writes, “The reasons for the GSSF’s success are several. First, the matches are relatively easy to understand—stand, shoot and hit the target(s) as accurately and efficiently as possible. Second, because the courses of fire are simple and pre-published, GSSF matches are not as intimidating as, say, a “combat” or a “practical” match. Third, Glock strives to provide GSSF customers with a positive experience by working with local ROs and by having on-site a factory armorer who can answer questions and make any needed repairs. Finally, Mr. Glock is quite generous to the customers who support him: Glock gives away at every outdoor GSSF event pistol certificates and cash awards!”
