“If someone attacks you and you fight back, are you probably going to get hurt?” he asked.
“Yes,” the students answered back in unison.
“That’s right,” Adams said. “You’re probably going to get hurt at least a little … but it would be a whole lot worse if you didn’t know how to defend yourself.”
Adams, who owns and operates Adams Karate in Coldwater, teaches self-defense seminars for kids ages 7-12 once a month at Great Lakes Health & Fitness.
“I come here and teach them some self-defense basics,” Adams said. “They always seem to enjoy it. The guy in the big, blue suit comes out and they get to really do the punches and kicks they’ve been learning.”
