Stranger Danger is a self-defense class for young children of ages 3 – 12. Hosted by The Villages at Belvoir.
The Villages at Belvoir notified residents of the class advising registration is required. Due to its popularity The Villages at Belvoir has hosted this class numerous times in the past with capacity usually limited to 30 children. While the class is currently full, residents may still request to be placed on a wait list for a future class that The Villages at Belvoir hopes to host.
“It is always important to give young children some tools that they can use if they are ever faced with danger,” stated Jennifer Watkins, marketing manger, The Villages at Belvoir.. “As much as parents want to be there 24/7, there are moments (when they can’t be there). This helps kids have a skill set or awareness of what they should do if they ever feel uncomfortable about being approached by someone.”
Divine Martial Arts will teach the class. The instructor, Eric Divine, lives on Fort Belvoir and also teaches various martial arts classes through the installation’s Child, Youth and School Services School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills (SKIES) Unlimited program.
