Residents of Panhandle, Nebraska will have the opportunity to get a concealed-carry permit after taking a course next month in Gering. Heartland Tactical LLC instructor Michael Johnson says part of the class teaches people about gun laws, where you can carry guns and how to interact with society.
Johnson stated those interested must be 21 or older and a Nebraska resident. The eight hour class will be offered March 1st, 9th and 30th. He the class year-round if anyone is unable to make the above times. He says although society is torn on gun owners verses non-gun owners, having a conceal carry permit should be a want not a need.
“I believe strongly that it’s something that needs to be able to be at the person’s own decision. They need to be able to choose whether they want this in their lives or not, if they want to make it a part of their lives or not.”
Johnson says after taking the class, students will then have to visit Nebraska State Patrol for a background check and go through other processes in order to receive the permit.
