A campaign to allow concealed carry on University of Minnesota campuses kicked off the four-day event on Monday.

The “Allow Campus Carry” campaign is led by members of the Minnesota College Republicans, Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow, Young Americans for Liberty and the Minnesota Republic newspaper. The campaign began with a petition drive and informational handouts.

The university’s ban on concealed carry weapons on its numerous campuses predates Minnesota’s 2003 conceal-and-carry law.
