A campaign to allow concealed carry on University of Minnesota campuses kicked off the four-day event on Monday.
The “Allow Campus Carry” campaign is led by members of the Minnesota College Republicans, Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow, Young Americans for Liberty and the Minnesota Republic newspaper. Members are advocating to allow students, faculty, staff and visitors 21 and older who are legally allowed to carry firearms to allow them to on campus.
The campaign began with a petition drive and informational handouts.
The university’s ban on concealed carry weapons on its numerous campuses predates Minnesota’s 2003 conceal-and-carry law.
