The training will be held at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, April 1 through June 3, at the CCC main campus in Astoria. The cost of the course is $75.
Self-Defense instructor Mike Calog is a retired police officer with 36 years of martial arts experience. Participants will learn how to get out of tight places, escape from holds, and how to thwart a carjacker inside a vehicle. The course emphasizes breath control, relaxation, movement, and striking techniques from the Russian styles as well as Japanese small circle jujitsu finger and joint locking. The class is designed for all body styles and ages 16 and older.
