The Carmi Rifle Club in Carmi, Ill., will host the first in a series of Illinois concealed carry training courses this weekend.
Students must take one of the two “Day 1” courses and the only “Day 2” course being offered. The “Day 1” and “Day 2” courses are eight hours each, adding up to the 16 hours necessary to receive a permit.
The two “Day 1” courses will take place on Saturday, April 12, and Saturday, April 19. It will cover firearms and marksmanship. The only “Day 2” class, which covers the legal portion and range qualification, is scheduled for Saturday, April 26.
According to the Carmi Times:
Students who have up to 8 hours of acceptable prior training which can be credited toward the 16 total hours may register for the April 26 Day 2 class without attending the Day 1 class. Acceptable prior training would include an honorable military discharge or NRA Basic Pistol certificate, or a combination of an Illinois Hunter Safety certificate along with a Utah concealed carry license..
Classes will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. “with range qualifications at the Carmi Rifle Club scheduled to follow.”
Fee for each class is $115 with and a $15 waiver in lieu of donating 150 rounds of .22 long rifle ammo per class. Pre-registration is required.
