A two day women’s self-defense seminar will be conducted by the martial arts academy – Real World Mixed Martial Arts (RWMMA) to benefit the Jersey Battered Women’s Service (JBWS) in New Jersey.
This seminar will provide attendees with physical and mental tools for a variety of dangerous situations including mugging and sexual assault, according to a release. They will also learn how to free themselves from an assailant’s grasp, create enough space to escape from an attacker, or even fight back if necessary. In addition, a Morris Township police officer will discuss assailant psychology and offer techniques on how to avoid dangerous confrontations. Overall, the seminar stresses awareness, preparation, and training to bolster the self-confidence of all those who attend.
RWMMA is owned by Professor George Sernack, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do black belt with over 30 years teaching experience, including women’s self-defense training. “This class is not about belts, uniforms, rank, or ceremony,” Sernack says.
