A gun safety program was put on by the Headland Police Department thanks to a grant from the National Rifle Association. Some Wiregrass students received a gun safety lesson on what to do when they see a firearm. The NRA’s mascot Eddie Eagle taught Headland Elementary School students a little song to remember if they come in contact with a gun. It is “Stop, don’t touch, leave the area, tell an adult.”
“If we we start with the younger age they are getting of age to use weapons and go hunting with their dads and all they will start already practicing the safety techniques of it,” said Lt. Dennis Cobb from the Headland Police Department. This is the 5th year the police department has put on the program.
