According to 550 KFYI in Phoenix, the 47-year-old homeowner heard someone grabbing the doorknobs of her home, looking for a door that was unlocked. She immediately called police and grabbed her gun.
After a short time, 550 KFYI reported the intruder found a “long-handled garden tool” and used it to break in through a sliding glass door.
Once inside, the man chased the woman as she tried to hide in the bathroom, then started assaulting her with the garden tool.
During the assault, the woman managed to shoot the intruder in his stomach.
The woman suffered minor injuries, while the suspect was expected to survive the shooting.
