The YMCA in Anderson County, Texas is offering a free self-defense class for teen-aged and adult females from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the Palestine YMCA, located at 5500 N. Loop 256 near the Story Intermediate School in Palestine. The RAD (Rape, Aggression, Defense) System will be taught by Donald Hammock, executive director of the Crisis Center of Anderson & Cherokee Counties. Hammock is also a reserve peace officer and a certified RAD instructor.
The program addresses the needs of women to acquire self defense strategies in a relatively short amount of time. It is the only self defense program ever endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, National Academy of Defense Education and National Self Defense Institute.
