Police are ramping up efforts to stop accidental shootings in Metro Detroit. As MyFoxDetroit.com reports, the Farmington Hills Police Department is participating in a free gun safety lock giveaway today. The new initiative is part of Gun Safety Awareness Day.

Farmington Hills police will be on hand to distribute free gun safety locks at the Farmington Hills Police Headquarters, which is located at 31655 11 Mile Road between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. According to MyFoxDetroit.com, you do not have to be a resident of Farmington Hills to obtain a free gun lock.
