In the wake of the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., some school districts in Missouri are training their teachers to carry concealed weapons in the classroom.

According to Fox News, Shield Solutions — a company specializing in business and school security solutions — is offering districts 40 hours of training for two staffers on how to use a Glock 19 pistol. The class takes place at a hilltop range in West Plains, Missouri. The fee for training is $17,500.

Shield Solutions founder Greg Martin told the Kansas City Star that identities of teachers carrying concealed weapons will be known only to school administrators and local law enforcement.

“Like air marshals on planes,” Martin said. “How many hijackings have we had since 9/11?”

Thus far, ten school districts in Missouri have signed up for training with Shield Solutions, Fox said. An additional three more have already signed contracts.
