In the wake of their decision to move to Aynor, South Carolina in response to Connecticut’s strict gun laws, firearms manufacturer PTR Industries announced plans to release their South Carolina Commemorative Edition Rifle, or PTR SCCR.
Chambered in .308 or 7.62 NATO, the PTR SCCR features an 18-inch match grade bull barrel, H&K navy type polymer trigger group housing, a black polymer stock with a slimline polymer handguard, a welded scope mount, a nickel color powdercoat finish, a weight of 9.5 pounds, and an overall length of 40 1/2 inches. In addition, the action is a Delayed Blowback Roller-Lock System.
Perhaps the most appealing feature of the PTR SCCR, however, is the custom barrel engraving which reads “We The People” and “Shall Not Be Infringed…”, as well as a custom receiver engraved with a palmetto tree and crescent moon. The receiver is stamped with PTR’s new address in South Carolina.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, PTR VP of sales and administration John McNamara said his company was pleased to be in South Carolina.
“We are well accepted and embraced in the community,” he said. “You hear things on TV about the south, that people will bake you a cake and bring it, for example. Well it’s been six months and that’s still happening. The North Myrtle Beach chamber of commerce brought out a full catered lunch to say thank you, one day an individual brought up a pickup truck full of watermelons and told us to have at ’em, and other days it’s been strawberries or other great foods. We very pleased to be in South Carolina.”
The PTR SCCR — which comes with three 20-round magazines — will be available at a manufacturer suggested retail price of $1,200.00. It is due for official release on Monday, June 30. According to The State, there will be 1,000 of these guns produced.
