A four-day self-defense class is being offered at NorthPointe Wellness in Roscoe, IL.

According to Beloit Daily News, instructor Clif Rigsby will host the class. He will teach a variety of different self-defense techniques involving Kempo, Kungfu, Hapkido, Ten Chi and more. Rigsby, 62, has been studying martial arts for over 25 years.

Rigsby is the creator of the Surviving Aggressive and Frightening Experiences (SAFE) self-defense course.

“My heart went out to some women who were abused and nothing was done,” he said.

Rigsby teaches martial arts moves such blocks and evasive maneuvers to enable people to protect themselves. He helps students learn how to counter the moves typically employed by assailants.

“Never underestimate anybody. Everybody has the capability to hurt, maim or kill,” he said.

The class is open to both men and women. The class schedule is Mondays and Wednesdays starting July 21 and ending July 30. Class time is 5-6:30 p.m. The cost of the class is $50 for NorthPointe Wellness members and $75 for non members.

Rigsby, 62, has been studying martial arts for more than 25 years and recently teaching the Tao of Ten Chi (or the way of heaven and earth) at NorthPointe.
