The Middletown Police Department in Delaware is set to host a Basic R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) course for local residents on Tuesday evenings this August at the police station.
According to the Middletown Transcript, the courses will take place August 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. and will feature lectures, discussion and a variety of different self-defense techniques which can be used by women of all ages and abilities.
Registration for the class is $25. Forms are located on the Middletown Police Department website, or at the police station, 130 Hampden Road, Middletown. For more information, please email Sgt. Brenner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As the Middletown Transcript points out, applications will be accepted for students 15 years or older, under 18 requires a parent.
All Rape Aggression Defense courses are taught by certified instructors. The course teaches risk awareness, prevention, reduction and avoidance, before progressing to basic hands-on self-defense techniques.
