According to the Orange County Register, at 2:24 a.m. police arrived at the 2800 block of East Third Street in the city’s Bluff Park neighborhood, responding to a burglary in progress. The resident had shot the intruder after he broke into the home.
“Officers arrived along with paramedics who pronounced the burglary suspect deceased at the scene,” said Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Megan Zabel.
Zabel said the suspect is a male, but no other identifying information has been released on either the resident or suspect.
As the OC Register reports, the residents in the home were uninjured. Police are still investigating, and it has yet to be determined if the resident would be charged.
“The case will be presented to the (district attorney’s) office upon conclusion of the investigation, who will determine if charges will be filed if any.” Zabel said.
