New NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Course Offered in CA

The NRA FIRST (“Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training”) Steps Pistol Course — a basic class which help students gain confidence and skills in handling and using handguns — is coming to Vacaville, California.

According to the Vacaville Reporter, the class will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 29. A local NRA Certified Firearms Instructor will teach the basics of firearm safety, operation and marksmanship. All materials, guns, ammo, range time, etc. are included.

The NRA FIRST Steps class is perfect for beginning shooters as well as current shooters looking to improve their marksmanship skills.

As the Reporter notes, students will learn firearm safety, the parts and operation of revolvers and semi-autos, an introduction to ammo and how it works, the steps and safety involved with cleaning guns and other training and shooting opportunities available to them. They’ll also learn shooting fundamentals such as grip, stance, sight alignment, breath control, trigger control, and follow-through. Finally, they’ll get to put everything they learned into practice with live fire on the range.
