A brave, quick-thinking California woman used her home firearm to turn the tables on a would-be robber.

According to the Turlock Journal, the victim was sitting outside her home in the 2400 block of Crowell Road in Turlock at 11 p.m. when the suspect approached, grabbed her hair and put a gun to the back of her head.

Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis confirmed that the suspect searched the woman’s car for valuables. Finding nothing in the car, he then forced her to take him inside her home and surrender her money and credit cards.

As the Turlock Journal reports, the victim led him inside the home and told the suspect that the money and credit cards were inside a safe. She opened the safe, and, rather than pulling out the valuables, she pulled out a gun.

Upon seeing the gun, the suspect immediately fled the residence.

Police describe the suspect as an African-American male in his 20s with tattoos on his right arm, the Turlock Journal noted. He was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. Please contact the Turlock Police Department at 668-5550 if you have any information as to his whereabouts.
