An elderly California man saved his neighbor from a dangerous stalker over the weekend.
According to KERO TV, Ronnie Green, 74, was at his home in the 4000 block of Jenkins Road of Rosedale when he heard screams coming from his neighbor’s house. He went to investigate.
That’s when he came face-to-face with 51-year-old Greg Miller.
Lieutenant Dean Marshall with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said that an altercation ensued. Miller was armed with a knife and proceeded to assault Green with it. During the struggle, Green shot Miller on the foot, but he still managed to flee the scene.
As KERO TV reports, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received a call just minutes later about a crash at a nearby intersection. Callers said the man was yelling that he was God and was running on the roadway.
Police arrived and identified the man as Miller. He was arrested and charged with stalking, battery, elder abuse and criminal threats. He has been transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for his foot wound.
The Bakersfield Californian reports that Green was aware that his neighbor was being stalked by Miller, which is why he immediately went to investigate upon hearing a scream from her home.
