A would-be robber with a pellet gun found himself on the losing end of a gunfight in Daytona Beach, Florida.
According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the suspect entered the Neighborhood Meat Market located on 601 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night and brandished the pellet gun, demanding cash from the store clerk.
The quick-thinking store clerk pulled out his own firearm. Unfortunately for the suspect, this one was real. The clerk fired one round at the suspect, who then fled the store, police said.
The store owner’s wife happened to arrive just as the suspect was leaving, and the suspect attempted to carjack her. Fortunately, the clerk fired a second shot at the suspect. This prompted him to drop the pellet gun and run away.
As the News-Journal reports, the second shot hit the owner’s wife’s car door, but it is not known if the other round hit the suspect. No blood was found at the scene.
Police are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
