A concealed carry permit holder shot and killed an armed robber in Milwaukee on Friday afternoon.

According to WISN, the incident occurred at the Level Up Barber Shop and Auto Body Repair near 31st Street and Cameron Avenue. The suspect walked in at 12:30 p.m. and “asked some questions about how much a haircut costs, then went into the bathroom to put his mask on and get his gun ready or whatever,” said the store’s co-owner, identified only as Ty.

Milwaukee police said the suspect walked out and initiated the robbery. While he was in the process of patting down customers, one of them pulled out a gun and opened fire, shooting and killing the man.

“One of the customers acted in self-defense. He had his (concealed-carry permit), a registered firearm, and unfortunately killed the robber,” Ty said.

The suspect has not been identified. Ty told police he did not know the suspect and is puzzled as to why his establishment was targeted.

As WISN reports, Ty said he also has a concealed carry permit because of the violence in his neighborhood.

“The crime rate is so high. It’s like nobody wants to work for an honest living anymore,” Ty said.

Police are still investigating the shooting.
