According to The Detroit News, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. this morning at a home in the 24900 block of Midland St. Police said the female victim was asleep when the suspect, armed with a handgun, entered the home through an open window.
A physical confrontation ensued and the victim was struck in the head, WXYZ reported.
That’s when the woman’s dog emerged and chased off the home invader.
Redford Township Police used a K-9 unit in an effort to find the suspect to no avail. As WXYS notes, he is described as a man in his early 20s, six feet tall and skinny. He was wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans and a black ski mask during the incident.
