Most anyone who spends time around guns knows the name of Doug Koenig, even if you don’t follow competitive shooting. But if you have ever wondered why that name is so familiar, there is good reason. Koenig is widely considered to be the best all-around competitive shooter in the world, having won the NRA National Action Pistol Championship, also known as the Bianchi Cup, an unbelievable 16 times, including being the first to ever fire a perfect score and, separately, the highest score ever recorded of 1920-187x. This pistol competition combines speed and extreme accuracy, and it is considered one of the toughest and most prestigious tournaments in shooting. Koenig has been competing for 25 years and also hosts his own TV show, Doug Koenig’s Championship Season, which is about hunting, shooting and promoting an outdoor lifestyle. With this kind of experience under his belt, Koenig knows what works and what doesn’t. Scroll through the gallery above and watch the video below to take a closer look at what he keeps in his everyday range bag.
