Few guns are as purpose-driven as the PD10. Developed by self-defense firearms instructor Rob Pincus, the Avidity Arms PD10 is a thin, striker-fired, single-stack 9mm pistol with a full-length grip giving you 10+1 rounds on tap. An Ameriglo Luma Glow front sight sits up near the muzzle of the 4-inch barrel while a Claw Emergency Manipulation Sight rides on the back of the slide.

Colt’s latest rifle, the Combat Unit Carbine, is an evolution of the M4 design complete with the company’s first mid-length gas system. The rifle was developed with input from armed professionals, and it comes equipped with a Magpul MOE SL buttstock as well as an MOE pistol grip. The free-floating handguard is M-LOK compatible.

Colt has also updated its Competition Pistol line by offering models in stainless steel. The company’s Competition Pistols have been very popular, and the new stainless models offer the same high-speed features, including a fiber-optic front sight, a National Match barrel and G10 grip panels. Both 9mm and .45 ACP versions are available along with the newly added .38 Super.

Pistol-caliber carbines have become very popular in recent years, with the vast majority being chambered in 9mm. Flint River Armory is offering an alternative in .45 ACP. The AR-style CSA45 is specifically designed for this cartridge with features like a short-stroke gas piston operating system, a side-mounted charging handle, a lower receiver with an integral buffer assembly and 25-round magazines.

Adding to its popular line of striker-fired pistols, FN announced a new version of the FNS-9 Compact with a Flat Dark Earth (FDE) frame and a color-matched, PVD-coated slide. The new gun retains the same size specifications of the all-black model, making it instantly compatible with the large number of holsters and accessories already on the market for the FNS-9 Compact.

Known for its .50-caliber 1911 pistols, Guncrafter Industries also makes top-quality handguns in other calibers. Responding to customer demand, the company is now offering the American 1911 in 9mm. The new pistol offers an ambidextrous safety, a one-piece magazine well, an integral accessory rail and tritium night sights. As with Guncrafter’s other guns, the American is backed by a lifetime warranty.

One of the best 9mm pistols introduced so far in the 21st century is the VP9 from Heckler & Koch. Because of its great shooting characteristics, the gun has become quite popular. To help satisfy the demands of its customers, HK now offers the handgun with a grey frame. The slide and controls remain black, giving the gun an appealing two-tone look.

Derringer-style handguns have always been popular with people, and Inland Manufacturing aims to appeal to this market with its new Liberator. This new over/under handgun is chambered in .45 ACP with 3-inch, stainless steel barrels and a bead-blasted finish. The wooden grips feature the company’s logo, and a large front sight will help you put rounds on target quickly.

Chambered for the new .33 Nosler cartridge, this bolt-action rifle has a synthetic stock and an all-weather finish to make it a great gun to carry into the field. The company gaurantees it to be 1-MOA accurate. This new chambering offers magnum performance in a standard-length action. The reduced recoil of the cartridge, combined with the 1-inch recoil pad, should make this an easy shooter.

Remington is launching a brand-new line of polymer-framed pistols. These striker-fired handguns will employ many of the features used in modern defensive handguns, including an optimized grip angle, a Picatinny accessory rail, a light trigger with a short reset and an undercut triggerguard. Initial models will be available in 9mm and .45 ACP.

Springfield Armory has added an AR-platform rifle to its catalog. Rather than a “me too” type of AR, this gun is well thought out with features like a nickel-boron-coated trigger and a tensioning system to eliminate play between the receivers. Additionally, the Saint is equipped with top-tier gear from Bravo Company, but it’s still very affordable.

Ruger wouldn’t be the same without its extremely popular line of .22 LR pistols. New to the line is a special color-casehardened Mark IV from Turnbull Manufacturing. The limited-edition pistols have all of the standard features of a factory Mark IV, include one-button takedown capabilities, but the barrel and receiver sport the beautiful color casehardening for which Turnbull is so well known.

Walther makes some of the finest modern defensive pistols on the market. Just introduced, the new Creed pistol marries great Walther engineering with an incredibly low price tag. This 9mm pistol is a full-sized, hammer-fired handgun with a pre-cocked double-action trigger, a Tenifer finish and three-dot sights. Up front, the gun has an accessory rail for mounting a light, laser or combination unit.

Every new year brings new guns. As we begin 2017, the future has never looked brighter in that regard.
