Apex Tactical Specialties has unveiled a drop-in Action Enhancement Kit for Glock pistols that provides a crisp break with less pre-travel and a shortened overall travel distance. The reset is also shortened. The kit smooths the pull and reduces the pull weight by a pound without bypassing any of the factory safety mechanisms.
ArmaLaser is now offering a green aiming laser for owners of SCCY pistols. The new units are grip-touch activated and use a bright green laser that is very visible even in bright lighting conditions. The new laser-aiming units mount to the triggerguard and keeps additional bulk to a minimum. Like the pistols themselves, the ArmaLaser TR10G is affordable and backed by a five-year warranty.
Standard AR-15 buffer systems work, but they are pretty basic and can be noisy. That’s why Armaspec developed the SRS-1 Stealth Recoil Spring, an alternative drop-in replacement that promises to reduce both noise and felt recoil. Four models are available that correspond with existing buffer weights so you can match the unit to your needs.
Red-dot sights can make shooting a rifle quick and sure, but they can be very expensive. Thankfully, Firefield offers an affordable option with the 1x30mm Impulse. This non-magnifying optic has a 3-MOA reticle, runs on a single CR123A battery and offers water, dust and shock resistance. The sight also has a built-in red laser for supplemental aiming.
If you are looking for a defensive .45 ACP handgun round that offers maximum expansion while minimizing the risk of overpenetration, take a look at the new Civic Duty +P round from G2 Research. The all-copper, hollow-point bullet leaves the barrel at more than 1,200 fps and expands to nearly 1.5 inches with near 100-percent weight retention. These rounds look like they could be very effective at stopping an attacker.
GunVault makes a range of security cabinets that are designed to provide fast access to your firearms in an emergency. The company’s latest innovation is the ARVault. This compact unit renders an AR-platform rifle perfectly safe without the need for a larger safe. The 16-gauge steel unit can easily be mounted to a wall and unlocked via a keypad or biometric scanner for quick access in a crisis.
HiViz has expanded its popular line of Litewave fiber-optic sights to include those designed to fit the popular Ruger LC9 pistols. These bright, light-gathering sights are protected by a steel skeleton and come with red, green and white Litepipes that are easy to interchange. The front and rear sights are sold separately so you don’t have to purchase an entire set if you only want to add one or the other to your gun.
Premier powder-maker Hodgdon has announced a new propellant specifically developed for the 300 Blackout cartridge. Called the CFE BLK, the powder has the same copper fouling-reducing properties as the company’s CFE 223 and CFE Pistol powders. It works great in rifle cartridges with small case capacities, including the .17 Hornet, .218 BEE and .221 Fireball.
Many people know MEC Shooting Sports for its line of shotshell reloading equipment. The company is now moving into metallic reloading and leads the new product line with the Marksman. The MEC Marksman is a cast-iron, single-stage press with a patented shell holder that self-centers cases. The press uses standard 7/8-14 dies.
In an effort to meet the needs of shooters stuck in states with bans on standard-capacity magazines, Mission First Tactical is now offering AR magazines that hold 10 rounds but use the same polymer bodies as the company’s normal magazines with a permanent limiter sealed inside. The magazines have anti-tilt followers, stainless steel springs and drain holes.
Nosler recently announced a new caliber and is now offering ammunition to support it. The .33 Nosler is a magnum-strength cartridge that does not need a belted case and fits inside standard-length actions. One of the new loads in the Trophy Grade line is great for elk and dangerous game. It uses a 225-grain AccuBond bullet that leaves the muzzle at a velocity of approximately 3,025 fps.
Originally developed for use on heavy machine guns, HAWG (Heavy Applications Weapons Grease) is a non-toxic lubricant that offers friction- and wear-reduction properties for weapons that are subjected to heavy use. HAWG is formulated with a non-combustible base and is resistant to heat and corrosion. The grease is also biodegradable and virtually odorless.
TorkMag offers AR-15 magazines in two capacities: 35 and 50 rounds. Both models use a dual spring system that equalizes the forces placed on the front and rear of each round to increase feeding reliability. The springs are very efficient and work well with both 5.56mm NATO and 300 BLK ammunition. TorkMag magazines are also made right here in the United States.
Extending its line of successful red-dot optics, TruGlo has added the new Tru-Tec Extreme sight to its catalog. The new sight has a variable-brightness, 2-MOA dot that is night-vision compatible. This sight is designed to be shock resistant and is sealed to resist water and prevent fogging. Motion sensors deactivate the sight when it is not in use and instantly re-activate it when it is moved.
