The 2016 U.S. presidential election was, to put it mildly, an important one for Second Amendment rights in this country. There’s nobody who knows that better than Chris Cox. As the executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) — the lobbying arm of the National Rifle Association — since 2002, Cox has had a front-row seat to the legislative fights that have had major implications for both the firearms industry as a whole and law-abiding gun owners across the country.

Cox was on hand at SHOT Show 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and we were fortunate enough to grab a few minutes with him.

Watch the video above as our man on the ground, Guerrilla Approach founder Aaron Barruga, picks Cox’s brain about the implications of Donald Trump’s election for gun owners; the possibility of national concealed carry reciprocity; the hearing protection act; how gun owners should stay engaged politically; and much, much more.
