The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has announced it will use disaster relief funds to help retailers, ranges and manufacturers affected by Hurricane Harvey.

“We want our member companies to know that their trade association stands with them in these difficult times, and that this assistance is another benefit of membership,” NSSF senior VP and CMO Chris Dolnack said in a statement. “This is in keeping with the monetary relief we provided our members in the Northeast after Hurricane Sandy wreaked her havoc in 2012, and to those in the Southeast following Hurricane Matthew in 2016.”
Hurricane Harvey made landfall Friday night between Port Aransas and Port O’Connor, Texas, as a Category 4 storm with winds of up to 130 mph. It’s the first Category 4 hurricane to hit the United States since Hurricane Charley in 2004, CNN reported.
According to the New York Post, Harvey has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but the entire region is currently being hit with massive flooding which is expected to continue over the next few days.
Thus, the NSSF has confirmed it would make “dedicated aid” accessible for “business loss or damage resulting from Hurricane Harvey to qualifying NSSF member businesses.” The organization says funds will be available to NSSF members suffering financial hardship and unable to pay for the necessary expenses to resume business.

To apply for relief, contact NSSF Member Services at 203-426-1320 ext. 209. In addition, a “Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund Application” is available online at nssf.org. FFLs in the affected regions should contact their local ATF field office regarding removing firearms and ammunition inventory, along with acquisition and disposition records, to a safe location.
