Never let it be said that the firearms industry suffers from a lack of innovation. A new company called Trailblazer Firearms based out of Asheville, N.C. has launched the LifeCard: a unique little .22 LR single-action, single-shot pistol no bigger than a credit card when folded.

Touted by the company in the press release as “the last gun you’ll leave behind,” the Trailblazer LifeCard pistol features a frame and grip that are constructed from fully-machined aluminum billet and adorned with hard-coat black anodized finish. Meanwhile, the tilt-up barrel, bolt and trigger are all made of steel with an Isonite finish for corrosion resistance.

This is definitely a unique entry in the .22 LR market, and Trailblazer president Aaron Voigt says there’s more where that came from, with “innovative” new firearms products already in the pipeline.

Voigt is a USMC and Army veteran who first hit upon the idea for the LifeCard way back in 2010. After dealing with patents, trademarks, prototypes, machining, licensing, marketing and other issues, the gun is finally a reality.

“Initially, I had no idea that going from concept to actual product would take seven years, but in essence, that time spent was valuable and will show in every aspect of this remarkable product. I am looking forward to putting this pistol on the market and can’t thank my family and friends enough for all the support and patience,” Voigt said. “We expect product to hit our distributors, Ellett Brothers and Jerry’s Sport Center, in about three weeks. We look forward to the feedback from our customers regarding our initial product offering and look forward to continually innovating new products.”

The LifeCard—which holds four rounds—will be available in a few weeks, with the MSRP set at $399. See the official specs below.
