A teenager who allegedly threatened a woman with a knife and demanded sex from her was sent running from the scene when a Florida concealed carrier  stepped in and saved the day.
Florida Concealed Carrier Saves The Day
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a Facebook post that the woman walked into the Fleming Island Walmart, where the suspect “threatened her with a knife, while making explicit demands.”
The woman was “in fear, but was thankfully helped by a nearby customer” who happened to have a gun.
“Due to the females vigilance, coupled with the assistance of that customer, the male fled the store without harming anyone. Our agency was notified and a response from our patrol deputies led to a quick and safe apprehension of him, in less than ten minutes from the original call,” the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
A separate Facebook post from the woman in question, Alis Muntain, sheds more light on the incident. Read it in full below:
Aftermath
The 14-year-old suspect was captured by police shortly after fleeing the store. He has not been identified by news outlets. After being placed into custody, he was given a mental evaluation. Police then transported him to a juvenile detention center, News4Jax reported.
Sgt. Keith Smith with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office praised Muntain’s actions that night.
“She did exactly what she needed to do as for as making contact with someone and getting them involved, to at least bring attention to herself and what was going on,” Smith said.
In her Facebook post, Muntain said she’s grateful a concealed carrier happened to be nearby.
“I’m so grateful that he was placed in my path at that moment, and that he was exercising his right to bear arms,” Muntain said.
