Over the past couple of years, SIG has been on a stratospheric trajectory. Military contracts aside, it is the introduction of the SIG Sauer P365 that took the shooting community by storm.

RELATED STORY

SIG P365: First Look at Sig Sauer’s Micro Pistol With 11-Round Capacity

SIG built this sub-compact pistol from the ground up to house an innovative 10-round magazine. The magazine itself is not really news, but it makes a statement in a pistol as diminutive as the P365.

To add to the utility of the P365, SIG also introduced a line of accessories for the P365’s proprietary rail. These include the Lima365 laser unit and the Foxtrot365 weapon light.

I had a chance to see these new products in action at 2018 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous and I was fairly impressed. In fact, I ordered review samples to try on my own. SIG molded both units to fit the lines and curves of the P365’s frame without adding to the width. Additionally, both have an integral instant-activation switch that turn on the units when the pistol is gripped.

The SIG Sauer P365 and the Lima365

The Lima365 laser unit is available with either a red or green laser. As most are aware, the human eye is more attuned to green due to evolutionary considerations. This means that the green dot is more visible and easier to track. This is especially true during daylight hours.

However, because of the relatively new technology involved with green lasers, the green laser Lima365 costs a bit more with an MSRP of $229 versus $179 for the red-laser unit.

Despite the cost difference, both versions of the Lima365 are built to the same standards. This includes an IPX4 water-resistant rating (resistant to water spray) and both come with a five-year warranty. This warranty is one of the best available for the price range.

Both models sport a 5mw laser and are powered by a CR-1/3N battery, which provides up to four hours of runtime.

The SIG P365 and the Foxtrot365

Specifically designed for the SIG P365, as well, the Foxtrot365 is a miniature weapon light sporting the latest-generation Cree XP-GE LED. The Foxtrot365 provides 100 lumens of light for approximately 30 using one CR-1/3N battery.

Additionally, the Foxtrot365 has an IPX4 water-resistant rating and is also backed by SIG’s five-year warranty.

When the Foxtrot365 became available, it offered good illumination without the blinding splash more powerful lights can create indoors. It kind of harkened back to the SureFire 6P, which kicked out 60 lumens that many used as a weapon light. However, the Foxtrot offers 66 percent more illumination in a much smaller package.

The Particulars

For their size, the Lima365 and Foxtrot365 both perform quite well. During daylight, there is a distinct advantage in using the green-laser Lima365 unit as it is highly visible at around 15 yards or less. However, if the SIG P365 is going to only be used indoors, users can get by with the less expensive red-laser unit.

Both units must be removed from the rail in order to change out the battery. For that reason — and since I would use a larger handgun for home defense — my preference would be to keep the Lima365 installed on my P365 for concealed carry. It has a much longer run-time than the Foxtrot365 and doesn’t require battery changes as often. However, some will still prefer the light over the laser for their own circumstances.

Some shooters like tactical accessories, feeling they provide an edge in a defensive encounter. And those with SIG P365 pistols should consider the Lima365 and the Foxtrot365. Both just might provide the advantage that makes all the difference. For even more info, please visit SigSauer.com.
